I wrote my first story when I was in first grade. It was about a bird that saved its babies from a burning tree. It was five pages long and written entirely in Armenian. I was proud of it. We moved to the United States when I was nine and the bird story got lost, but the love I felt for words has stayed with me even after English became my primary language.
